On 31 August 2026, the Himalaya Yeshikhorlo Cultural Foundation was officially inaugurated in Sydney, Australia. His Eminence Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche attended in person, reciting the Eight Verses of Auspiciousness, the Mantra of Dependent Origination and other prayers, and blessing the occasion with aspirations for the foundation’s success. The ceremony included the unveiling of the foundation’s name plaque.
Nearly one hundred invited guests attended the event, including Venerable Prajna of Australia’s Chinese Buddhist community, senior monastics and members of the Sangha from other Buddhist traditions, and representatives of the Buddhist Council of New South Wales.
Founded by Khenpo Dza Tsering Tashi, the foundation is a government-registered, nonprofit charitable organisation dedicated to cultural endeavours.
Its mission is to do all it can to serve the languages, scripts, Buddha Dharma and cultures of the Himalayan region; to bring together Tibetans, Bhutanese, Nepalese, Indians and others in Sydney who share a connection to Himalayan culture, working together to preserve, promote and pass on their ancestral heritage; and to contribute to Australia’s multicultural society through the value and role of Himalayan culture as an integral part of that society.
